Passage
Here's another question about Mt. St. Helens.
The eruption of Mt. St. Helens, a volcano in Washington, on May 18, 1980, changed the structure of the mountain and
more than 200 square miles of the surrounding forest. Prior to the eruption, the mountain stood 9,677 feet above sea
level. After the eruption, 1,314 feet of the mountain had been removed, leaving the volcano standing only 8,363 feet
above sea level. The blast exploded out of the north side of Mt. St. Helens at 300 miles per hour, snapping 100-year-old
trees like toothpicks and stripping off their bark. The mountain and its surrounding area were drastically different after
the eruption.
Select the correct answer.
In contrast to the trees surrounding Mt. St. Helens prior to the eruption, after the eruption, the trees ______.
A) had been shredded
B) were blooming
C) were missing their bark
