While it was not the case in the early 70's when the Bloch and Anderson study was done, women working as police officers is normal today and the law explicitly prohibits discrimination. Critics of women as police officers are very few and considered a fringe "opinion" not supported by data. Yet it's likely that men and women, in general, may each bring something to the job more so than the other.
