Please review the case: Peter is a 30 year old male and has been in and out of mental health, Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and crisis programs for over ten years. He has always had medical and/or psychiatry issues such as depression and chronic back pain. He lives in a roommate situation, but is primarily on his own, and he and the roommate do not talk to each other. Peter is very clean and likes things in order and his roommate is less rigid about the cleaning. There is no known record of a back injury, but his primary physician has been giving him vicodin for over six years. On a recent session with you, Peter disclosed he wants to get off of the pain meds because he is taking too many to get the same result. He is also drinking about three to four beers daily. He is able to function at his work but has been missing days on Monday. He is a dishwater at a local restaurant. When reviewing his medications that he brought in, you see that he has 16 different medication ranging from heartburn to depression to pain meds. They are coming from three different doctors.
