Answer: Pulmonary

Explanation:

  • The pulmonary circulation is a part of the circulatory system which is responsible for  carrying deoxygenated blood away from the right ventricle of the heart, to the lungs, and returning the oxygenated blood to the left atrium and ventricle of the heart.
  • This circulation is responsible for connecting the heart and the lungs whereas the systemic circulation is responsible for connecting the heart to the rest of the body parts. Together, the systemic and pulmonary circulation complete the entire circulatory system.

The circulatory system is divided into two main parts, the systemic circulation and the pulmonary circulation.

Further Explanation;

Circulatory system

  • Circulatory system is one of the systems in the body whose main function is to supply nutrients and oxygen to the tissues in the body.
  • It is made up of the heart and the blood vessels which run through the whole body.

Types of circulation

Systemic circulation

  • This describes the movement of blood between the heart and the rest of the body.
  • It involves movement of oxygenated blood from the heart to all the body tissues through the arteries and transport of deoxygenated blood from body tissues to the heart.
  • The systemic circulation starts when the heart pumps blood rich in oxygen out of the left ventricle into the aorta.
  • The blood supplies the cells throughout the body with oxygen and nutrients and then returns the deoxygenated blood to the right atrium of the heart through the venacava.

Pulmonary circulation

  • Pulmonary circulation involves movement of blood between the heart and the lungs.
  • It describes movement of deoxygenated blood from the heart through the pulmonary artery to the lungs and then the flow of oxygenated blood from the lungs through the pulmonary vein to the heart.
  • The pulmonary circulation begins when the heart pumps blood out of the right ventricle through the pulmonary arteries to the lungs.
  • Blood moves to the lungs and exchanges and exchanges carbon dioxide with oxygen and then returns to the left atrium of the heart through the pulmonary vein.
