This type of muscle is under direct voluntary control of the brain which can be relaxed or contracted at will. It is called skeletal muscle. These muscle contract and relax to mechanically move the body. All skeletal muscle is under direct voluntary control of the brain and can be stimulated to contract or relax at will, so this is way it is also referred to as voluntary muscle.
