What is a qualitative observation? A. An observation in which the length, volume, or weight of something is measured. B. An observation that depends on an objective measurement rather than a subjective assessment. C. An observation in which something is counted. D. An observation in which the appearance of something is described using descriptive language.

Respuesta :

Hey!

First, we must know the definition of a "qualitative observation." The definition of a qualitative observation is something that can be observed with our senses. Such senses include touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing. It wouldn't directly involve measurements, weight, and exact sizes since we cannot know this from our senses alone.

Now, we can solve this problem with the process of elimination to find which option is the best fit for the definition.

We'll start with option one.

Option One :
An observation in which the length, volume, or weight of something is measured.

According to the definition, this statement cannot be the answer because it  states it needs the length, volume, or weight of something is measured. A qualitative observation does not need these things.

This option is INCORRECT.

Let's look at option two.

Option Two :
An observation that depends on an objective measurement rather than a subjective assessment.

Again, this statement says that it depends on an objective measurement, which is something a qua
litative observation do not need.

This option is INCORRECT.

Moving on to option three.

Option Three :
An observation in which something is counted.

According to the definition of a
qualitative observation, a qualitative observation is going to require more than just counting an object. So, this cannot be the correct answer.

This option is INCORRECT.

With all of the options gone, this must mean that the last answer is the correct answer. But just to be 110% sure we'll take a look at the option.

Option Four :
An observation in which the appearance of something is described using descriptive language.

According to the definition, this option is the correct option. It provides a close enough definition that matches a
qualitative observation. It states the checking the appearance of something in descriptive language.

This is CORRECT.

So,the answer to this question is...

The option that provides a good definition for a
qualitative observation is  option D.

Hope this helps!
