The least common multiple [LCM] is the lowest number you should be able to find that all three of your numbers have in common if you add them by each other over and over. What this means is that in multiples of 8 (8, 16, 24...), multiples of 6 (6, 12, 18...), and multiples of 12 (12, 24, 36...) you should be able to find a number that they all have in common. You want to look for the lowest number you can.

MULTIPLES OF EIGHT: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48.
MULTIPLES OF SIX: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36.
MULTIPLES OF TWELVE: 12, 24, 36, 48, 60.

In bold, you will notice that all of these have the number twenty-four in common. There is no number less than that number that they all have in common, and therefore, your least common multiple is 24.
Multiples of 8: 8x1=8; 8x2=16; 8x3=24; 8x4=32
Multiples of 6: 6x1=6; 6x2=12;6x3=18 6x4=24
Multiples of 12: 12x1=12; 12x2=24 12x3=36 12x4=48

LCM= 24
