Federalism was a system of government that was created by the founding father Alexander Hamilton in the year of 1789 and ceased operation in 1820. Also called the Pro-Administration party, the Federalist party was campaigning for a stronger central government, in contrast to the stronger state governments. Since the root anti means opposite or not, we know that Anti-Federalists will favor things that the federalists don't. Since federalists favor a stronger central government, anti-federalists would favor the stronger state governments and oppose the stronger central government.
