To be able to perform this operation we have to get the fractions to a common denominator. Hence we need to find the minimum common multiple of 10 and 4, and that is 20, so we have to multiply and divide all fractions by the correct number to get its fraction with denominator 20:
3/10 + 1/4+ 3/4
= 3/10 + 4/4
= (2/2)(3/10) + (5/5)(4/4)
= 6/20 + 20/20
= 26/20
= 13/10
