Wheat crops didn’t form the basis of Native American agriculture mainly because these crops are introduced by the Europeans. Originally, wheat crops came from Europe.

Basically, the crops that the Native Americans originally planted are corns, squash, sunflowers, potatoes, peppers, peanuts, sweet potatoes, avocados, wild rice, tomatoes, beans, pumpkins, chocolate, and papayas. Native Americans consider these as important crops in their agriculture.
