it not only infected the North American colonies, but ALL its american colonies. but to put it briefly, the colonies where influenced by the US's revolution of independence. more spisificly, a man in south america names Simon Bolivar. He got not all, but a huge chunk of the colonies. Mainly what is roughly today's Bolivia, Colombia, and Venezuela. slowly but surely, the other spanish colonies in latin America, gained independence, and the Spanish couldn't do anything, because they needed to focus on mainland Spain, and couldnt suport the colonies.
