A balloon is filled with helium at sea level the volume is measured to be 3.1 Liters at a pressure of 0.97 atmosphere. If the balloon is released it drifts upwards. At height of 4 kilometers the pressure is measured to be 0.61 atmospheres. What is the volume of the balloon?

Respuesta :

The volume of balloon is 4.92 L

 Calculation

The  volume  of balloon is calculated  using  Boyle's   law formula

that is  P1V1= P2V2

where  P1= 0.97 atm

             V1= 3.1 L

              P2= 0.61  atm

            V2=?  L

by making the V2 the subject of the formula.

that  is by dividing   both  side with P2

V2 = P1V1/P2

v2=[ (0.97 atm x 3.1 L) / 0.61 atm] = 4.93 L
