An electromagnet is only magnetic when there's electric current flowing through its coils (A).  When there's no current flowing through it, it just lays there like a lump of iron with wire wound around it.

The true statement about an electromagnet is that it  doesn't function without a source of current.

An electromagnet is referred to a type of magnet which has a magnetic field that is generated as a result of the flow of electric current passing through it.

This type of magnet is a mere object but when electric current is passed, a

magnetic field is formed which confirms that the statement about it not being

able to function without a source of current.
