According to Hans Rosling's theory, the world's population will reach 9 billion over the next 50 years, and only by raising the standard of living of the poorest and ending child mortality will we be able to control population growth.  It points out that an additional 4 billion people have reached the world population by 2010. In addition to this, there has been a vast economic growth in the West, making the quality of life of the inhabitants grow even more.

Rosling stresses that in today's world there are people living at all economic and social levels and that in the future the emerging economies will continue to grow until they reach Western countries, but only if there is investment in the correct environmental technology in a way that severe climate change and energy can still be relatively cheap.
