B) Abolition.
The Wilmot Proviso was an important proposal in the U.S congress in 1846 by representative David Wilmot. The purpose of the Wilmot Proviso was to prohibit slavery in the territories the U.S had acquired from the War of Mexico. Slaveholders did not like this since they saw slaves as property. Unfortunately the Wilmot Proviso did not become law, but it brought 'slavery' to people's attention.
