The Mycenaeans and the Minoans were similar in the sense that they reigned and traded in and around the Aegean Sea. The Minoans were a large and powerful civilization that developed around 2600 BC in the island of Crete. Their prosperity was mainly based in their ability to navigate and trade with other civilizations along the Mediterranean Sea. In the same way, the Mycenaeans, which developed as a later civilization on mainland Greece, built up a strong trading economy throughout the Mediterranean Sea.
