The natural diet of the Barn Owl in the wild comprises small mammals, mainly Feild Voles, Common Shrews and Wood Mice. The Barn Owl will usually swallow small prey items whole. It's better to provide small food items rather than small parts of large animals. Barn Owls occupy a vast range of habitats from rural to urban, they are generally found at low elevations in open habitats such as grasslands, deserts, marshes and agricultural fields.
