The organization’s name derived from the Greek word “kyklos,” meaning circle. Founded in 1865, it's members started an underground movement of intimidation and violence directed at Republican leaders.
One of the main goals of KKK was to re-establish white supremacy through Democratic victories in South State. Therefore, the main goal was to make hegemony of white, and resist the movement of equality of Black people.
