Respuesta :

Answer:

C) The leader of the religion practiced in the region went into exile

Explanation:

The southwestern region of China is Tibet. Tibet has long wanted to separate from China and be an independent nations, but China doesn't allow that. After the communists came to power, there has been suppression of the Tibetan people, as well as a policy for moving in Han Chinese population so that the region's demographic picture changes, and indeed the Han Chinese have become the dominant population after several decades of this policy. In order to stop any rebellions, the communists went after the spiritual leader of the region, which is the person of highest authority among the Tibetans, the Dalai Lama. In order for Dalai Lama to not get executed, he went into exile, and even though he is not present in Tibet, he is active and is still the leader of  the Tibetans.
