The appropriate procedure for using an ice water bath with a student who is having a serious heat reaction is as follows:
1. Remove the excess clothing and other equipment’s of the affected student as more covering will increase the body temperature.
2. Meanwhile make the water bath tub ready with cold water with temperature of 35-58 degree Fahrenheit.
3. Cool the affected individual in the cold water bath tub as soon as possible for 30 minutes.
4. Continuous stirring as well as adding of the ice must be ensured such that the temperature of the water is maintained.
5. As the temperature of the student’s body gets reduced, carefully lift the student from the bath.
