Muckrakers
The word muckraker was practiced in the Progressive Era to identify reform-minded American columnists who criticized established organizations and administrators as fraudulent. They typically had a large number of readers in some popular publications of the magazine. In America the new title is investigative journalism, it has diverse and more deprecatory implications in British English.
