As of the year 2010, what are the three largest areas of spending for the federal government? Describe the types of programs that each area covers. 3-5 sentences please!

Respuesta :

$695 billion (+4.9%) – Social Security
$571 billion (+58.6%) – Unemployment/Welfare/Other mandatory spending
$453 billion (+6.6%) – Medicare

Medicare is the federal government program that provides health care coverage (health insurance) if you are 65+, under 65 and receiving Social Security Disability Insurance for a certain amount of time, or under 65 and with End-Stage Renal Disease.

The larger and better known programs under the Social Security Administration, are:

Federal Old-Age (Retirement), Survivors, and Disability Insurance,
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families,
Health Insurance for Aged and Disabled, Medicare
Grants to States for Medical Assistance Programs for low income citizens, Medicaid
State Children's Health Insurance Program for low income citizens.

The United States has six major welfare programs: TANF, Medicaid, CHIP, SNAP, EITC, Supplemental Security Income, and housing assistance.

I hope this helps some, I know it’s not the exact answer you were looking for, but I think it should supply a good guideline for the little bit of extra research to come up with those extra sentences. I really hope this helps! Good luck with your assignment <3

Answer:

As of 2010, US war on terror was gooing on so defense spending is in the top three categories. It covers all pentagon expenses on buying things for the military. But health care actually accounts for more than defense. It takes care of people who cannot afford health care on their own.  The cost was so much that President Obama started a health care reform program. Retirement i.e. social security is the largest federal expenditure. It pays retired people as they previously have paid the governement through social security taxes. They count on the government for support during their retirement.

Hope this helped,
