In order for the new Constitution to be adopted in the United States, several compromises needed to be reached. The first major compromise was the inclusion of a Bill of Rights. This was a demand of the anti-Federalists. Another important compromise was the Three-Fifths Compromise, which clarified the role of slaves when it came to considering them as "population" for the purposes of representation.
