The program that denied American Indians the use of their languages, forced them to cut their hair, denied the practice of traditional ceremonies, and forced adoption of American names was Indian Boarding Schools program, where they were basically told to renounce everything that belonged to their culture, and assimilate to these new customs that most of America practiced.
