The Declaration itself brought no notice to slavery itself (since the document is about declaring separation from England as an independent nation), but is disputed about because of the single line of the preamble of the document, stating the rights to be enjoyed by all men; Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The scholars writing the declaration most likely meant in connotation to all free white men having access to these unalienable rights. However, in many past and present court cases or rebellions have been led by this statement to go forwards into supporting the equality of groups of peoples and minorities.
