Part 1
Just take the measurements that it says :) It mostly says where you have to measure.
Part 2
With the rate of change, I think it means that you have to divide one by the other and find the rate of how much more or less from each one will be. However, the more measurements you add, this number will change.
Sorry, I don't really understand Part 3. Hope the rest helped!
Answer:a) Measurement of People's Left foot (in inches):
30, 34, 35, 38, 40
Measurement of People's forearm (in inches):
14, 17, 18, 21, 23
b) My Two points = (30, 14) & (34, 17)
Rate of change, m = y2-y1/x2-x1
m = 17 - 14 / 34 - 30
m = 3 / 4
c) In order to form an equation, take any point, let say (14, 30)
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 30 = 3/4 (x - 14)
y - 30 = 3x/4 - 10.5
y = 3x/4 + 19.5
Where, y = Length of left foot
x = Length of forearm
When x = 17 ft, it would be:
y = 3(17) / 4 + 19.5
y = 12.75 + 19.5
y = 32.25 Ft
