The reason why protists are classified as either plants, animals or fungi is as a result of possession of some certain features such as flagellum for movement which is a feature of an animal-like organism also the possession of chloroplast which enables them to produce food themselves (autotrophs) while they are also classified as fungi because of their spore formation which is a feature of fungi.
