A 10 mile area of trees is removed from the tropical rainforest how Will this affect the amount of water in the amount of oxygen in the area?

Respuesta :

Answer:

Explanation:

There will be a slight drop in oxygen and water in the area. Trees are known to sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen as a by-product –during photosynthesis. Therefore reduction of trees of the tropical forest will subsequently result in reduced carbon sequestration and lesser release of oxygen to the atmosphere by the tropical forest.

Forests are also good at storing water and this is why they act as  watersheds. They do so by reducing surface runoffs after precipitation. They ‘hold and release’ the water slowly downstream making water available throughout the season. However, the destruction of forests causes increased surface runoffs. This causes flooding in the lowlands during precipitation and less water for the rest of the season.
