Cookies are on sale! Today each cookie costs $0.75, less than the normal price. Right now if you buy 7 of them it will only cost you $2.80.

Write an equation to determine the normal price of each cookie (c).

7 cookies will cost $2.80 right now

Find C = normal price

Cost today = C - $.75

(C - $.75) 7 = $2.80   (cost of 7 cookies today)

Divide both sides of equation by 7

 C - $.75 = $2.80 / 7

Add $.75 to both sides of equation

C = $.40 + $.75

C = $1.15
