The use of first, second, or third person is known as an author's B. narrative point of view. Authors choose whether they want to tell their story using the pronouns I, you, or he/she/it/they - depending on how close they want to be to their readers and how subjective or objective they want their narrators to be. The point of view in a piece of literature can be an important stylistic characteristic of a writer too - some authors are known for writing in the first person, and differentiate from most of other writers who often use the third person.
