Producers are organisms that make their own food. In the ocean, algae, phytoplankton and kelp are producers. .Primary consumers in the ocean include zooplankton, small fish, and crustaceans. The secondary consumers are fish, coral, penguins, whales, and other species that eat the zooplankton.
Another example:
The zooplankton is the primary consumer whereas the Herring fish is the secondary consumer. Then we have the tuna fish which eats the Herring fish.
