The media has a huge influence on today's society, and their views on body image. When you're used to seeing magazine covers of photoshopped and airbrushed models, this becomes your new norm. It creates unrealistic body expectations, for both men and women. Even outside magazines, the same thing is taking place on social media apps like Instagram. These social influencers are prompting young people to begin to edit and photoshop their own images in their strive to fit in.
Comparing yourself to others can be absolutely toxic for your body image. This can happen a lot easier now a days because of social media, but social media isn’t all to blame. It is a natural human instinct to compare ourselves to others; might this be our abilities, our mind or bodies. No matter what it is we are comparing, it damages our self worth and the way we view our selves.
