The oldest mummies have been dated c. 2000 BC. This is close to the same time period of the Shang, China's earliest confirmed civilization. What relationship do you think the people of the mummies might have had with the Shang?

The cultures that were mummifying people may have gotten supplies and had trade routes with Shang China.

The relationship of the people of the mummies with the Shang is their similar religious believes and building of pyramids.

Archaeologists study shows that Shang tombs were very similar to those which are found in the Egyptian pyramids. Chinese archaeologists says that the Shang believed that their servants would continue to serve them in the afterlife just like the ancient ideology. May be the Shang adopted this building of pyramids from the Egyptian civilization due to their interaction through trade.
