I will mark your answer as brainlist If you answer this question for me.
In a New York Times Opinion Column, the author of The Outsiders wrote the following:

“The trouble is, grownups write about teen-agers from their own memories, or else write about teenagers from a stand-off, I'm-a-little scared-to-get-close-they're hairy view. Teenagers today want to read about teenagers today. The world is changing, yet the authors of books for teenagers are still 15 years behind the times.”

In the space below summarize the problem the writer saw with books that were being published about teenagers. Remember she was speaking about the 1960s and 1970s and not the current day.

I would really appreciate it if You answered this question. Thank you! :)

Answer:

The author of The Outsiders, S.E Hinton, believed that today's writers all wrote from their point of view. They remember what it was like to be a teenager, which is mostly from the 1900's. Their view of teenage years is conflicting with our view, as we know a different world. She is saying that these writers are not modern, so the reader doesn't connect with the author as they should.
