the atoms in a sample are close together but can slide past one another. as the atoms lose energy, they move slower. the atoms become locked in place because of attractive forces between them. which change of state is taking place

Respuesta :

The change of state that is occurring is from the liquid state to the solid state.

Explanation:

In solid substances, molecules are held together by strong intermolecular forces of attraction. As a result, they are unable to move from their initial place but they can vibrate at their mean position.

Hence, in solid substances the molecules have low kinetic energy.

Whereas in liquid substances, the molecules are held by less strong intermolecular forces of attraction as compared to solids. Due to which they are able to slide past each other. Hence, they have medium kinetic energy.

Thus, we can conclude that change of state from liquid to solid is taking place.
