I think she chose this as an opening to express how she appreciates the simple things in life, such as making a grilled cheese sandwich . When she was in the White House, she was always waited on. With the luxury of the staff at the White House to do everything, she wasn’t really able to do simple things such as making a grilled cheese sandwich. Now out of the White House, she’s able to, and I think she prefers it that way. I hope this helps :)
