Describe how the size of the quadrant would impact population estimates what limitations do you think exist for selecting quadrant size for field biologist

Respuesta :

Answer: The techniques used in population depends on the type of ecosystem. These include the use of traps/footprints, the use of Quadrant, lincoln index and phitographic techniques among others.

Explanation: Using a quadrant method, the population size is given as

N = (Area of sites x total number of individuals) ÷ (Area of the Quadrant x number of throws)

To use this, the area of the sites must have the same unit as the area of the Quadrant. It is used for actively mobile organisms and in a grassland ecosystem. Organisms within the quadrant will be counted.

The limitations are;

It is not suitable for slant topography.

It is not suitable for non-uniform vegetation.
