PLEASE HELP ASAP

The entire plot of Romeo and Juliet takes place over a brief four-day period. How does the short time frame affect the drama of the play? In real life, would it be possible for a grand love story like this to take place in such a short time span? Why or why not? How does Shakespeare successfully combat the time constraints while making the story believable?

Answer:

No. It would not be possible.

Explanation:

I remember doing this Novel Study Guide, here this is what I wrote, and I got 100% on my Novel Study Guide, so I think that this will help.

Here is what I wrote,

'It is unwise and drama and lack of communication would be high. Obviously, there were a lot of both. You should take time with these things. Not just rush into them. The short time frame affects the story by making everything high tension. It's like a needle getting closer and closer to a balloon, it seems like it takes longer than it actually does. In order for a love story such as this to take place in real life, I think that it would require two very unstable and reckless people, with no practicality at all. But, on the other hand, I also think that it would take someone to take a leap of faith, and that is admirable. Practically speaking then, it would not be possible for so much to happen in four days in real life.

Shakespear successfully combats the time constraints by making the days seem longer than they actually are, and by making the characters be passionate and full of desire for each other. The character flaws and the placement of a show of emotions make the play believable because it gives insight into the character's passion for each other and their struggle.

"If thou dost love, pronounce it faithfully. Or, if thou thinkest I am too quickly won, I'll frown and be... " (Act 2, sc. 2, Line # 99 - 101)

" Be but sworn my love, and I'll no longer be a Capulet...Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized... With love's light wings did I o'erperch these walls, for stony limits cannot hold love out..." (Act 2, sc. 2, Line # 54 - 71)'

Just remember not to plagarise, you can end up getting a 50% - 0%, and that could really hurt your grade. :)

Hope this helps! :) Have an amazing day!
