Writing a Research Paper
In this activity, you will write a 500- to 750-word research paper on adaptation in organisms. You will compare and contrast the adaptability of two organisms that live in very different environments. You will conduct research to find credible scientific sources that support the comparison. Throughout this activity, follow the provided links for help with researching and writing your paper. Start by reading this guide to the research process.
Part A
Decide which two organisms to compare in your paper. Choose one organism that lives in the tundra and another from a desert region so that you are working with two contrasting environments. Read about the two habitats, and describe their characteristics. Here are a few characteristics to consider:

average temperature
seasonal changes
average rainfall or snowfall
vegetation
land features

pre-ap science.

Answer:

change—, invasive predators, etc. There are two observed ways of adaptation structural and behavioral. Structural adaptation is a physical change to the organism like how the Aves species adapted to have hollow bones and wings for an aerial lifestyle. Behavioral adaptation is how organisms change its ways of hunting, finding shelter, or any change that is done for survival. In this paper, the focus will be on behavioral adaptations of two species and how they are adapting to an exponential growth.

Entry 1 (Polar Bear)

Polar bears live in the Tundra. The average temperature of Tundra is -30 to 20 degrees, which is very cold. Their summer temperatures rarely get above 50 °F, and in the winter the temperature can reach -50 °F. Tundra is the coldest and driest place on this planet. Basically from all the four seasons, spring, and fall don't exist there. Which lefts us with the remaining two winter, and summer. Their winter is unbelievably long and can last for about 8 months. Since tundra is very close to the North Pole, the nights are very long. Now, summer in the other hand is very short. It usually lasts for about two months. Also, at the height of the summer, the days last a full 24 hours. The ground break off put in water in the tundra. The arctic tundra receives just about 15 to 25 cm of precipitation each year, which includes both rainfall and snowfall and melting snow and ice. Their vegetation includes flowering plants, herbs, grasses, and much more.

Entry 2 (Snake)

Snakes live in a desert region. The average temperature of a desert region is  38 °C. At night, desert temperatures fall to an average of -3.9 °C. The habitat is hot and dry. It's very hot during summer and warm during the rest of the year. Deserts have less than 250 mm of rainfall per year. The rain can be undependable. The desert territory is often sandy, rocky. Valleys and canyons are some of the land features. Other land features can be flat regions which are called plains, sand dunes, and oases are also some features of a desert.
