B. A thesis statement is a concise, generally single sentence, that presents the main point of your paper. Topic sentences should each describe a major aspect or significant idea which make up your thesis. Each topic sentence should then be backed up by supporting sentences that further explain, support or prove the topic sentence. Thus the hierarchy is: thesis sentence---topic sentences---supporting sentences.
