The two main geographical characteristics that you need to consider with China are rivers and mountains.
China has two rivers, the Yellow and the Yangtze, which stretch from sea in the east and then travel hundreds of miles inland.
Together, the two large rivers, and lack of large mountains made China a more hospitable area for centralized governments.
hope this helps

Answer:
China's geography has been useful for trading as well as a means of protection of many civilizations as it not easy to pass trhough the Himalaya Mountains, However China experimiented many times periods of isolation and floodings during raining seasons.
Explanation:
Pros
China is a very vast and diverse territory when talking about geography. We can start talking about the many rivers that has been useful for travelling specially for trading reasons. China's coast is also a benefit because it boost trading with other countries. On the other hand, China is to some extent protected by Himalaya Mountains since potential enemies near the area can't go and attack China easily whitout considering either passing through or going around the Himalaya Mountains.
Cons
Being a country with as many rivers as China also have a risk and it is floodings during raining seasons. China has very large rivers such as the Yellow and the Yangtze and there are many more which represent danger for the chinese. Additioanlly, the same geographycal barriers are also a drawback for China since they have been isolated not only away from enemies but also away from allies which could share resourses with China. That is a lost of potential which nowadays is not much problem because of globalization but it is something to keep in mind as part of China's limitations in History.
