Haitian farmers use the phrase “the earth is tired” to describe the major agricultural problems Haiti is facing now.
Rice makes up 20 percent of the typical Haitian’s diet, and that percentage is growing. In 1981 Haiti imported 18,000 tons of rice. Now the country imports close to 400,000 tons annually. Less than a quarter is homegrown.
Based on the statistics, there is a major agricultural crisis happening in Haiti right now. I hope my answer has come to your help. Thank you for posting your question here in Brainly.

Answer:
The land in Haiti has been used to its limits. First, colonizing countries such as Spain and France set up farms to produce cash crops, often cutting down large areas of trees. Following independence, Haitians continued to abuse the land by practicing poor farming techniques. They also clear-cut trees to sell to foreign markets and use in the growing fuelwood-charcoal industry. The resulting deforestation has caused increasing soil loss in many areas. In other areas, the soil has been so depleted of nutrients that it cannot sustain crops.
