Place: Going to emergency calls and working at a large animal veterinarian barn facility
Relationship with colleagues: Being the vet you will need a vet tech who you can trust and that they are very well working. Most vet techs that have been working for a vet for a while will know exactly what the vet wants and when. So the relationship would be intuitive, professional, but still have a fun time doing what you both love together
Objective: To help equine owners and their animals be at the top of their health and performance
Positive points: The feeling of helping and saving precious animal lives
Negative points: Having to put animals down when there is no more help and having to watch their owners hurting while you are because you were not able to save them
Main tasks: Being on the go and ready for a emergency call not expected, doing PPE (pre-purchase exams), telling the owner exactly what is going on with their animal, examinations, treating colic and twisted intestines, helping animals delivers babies, etc.
Why is it a future job? It will take years of vet school and it is something that I will look forward to doing every day, the good and the bad, because I can help animals and keep them in good health.
