Why was it important for citizens to participate in the Assembly?
to have a say in the creation of rules
to select leaders to run the government
to have enough people available for a fair jury
to ensure that enough people were in the army
There's isn't much that could be explained except that they wanted to regain the trust in political process by letting them take firsthand control of the decision making.
