please help me i have to write a short paragrah explaining why do people hold on to conspiracy theories, even when there is evidence that might prove them wrong?

People hold onto conspiracy theories because they want an answer that fits their beliefs, they latch onto it because they form a personal connection to it and don’t want to hear otherwise. A great example would be the election, the fraud claim because the influx of mail voting by democrats that were counted after the in person vote, this claim was debunked nearly instantly and fairly easily as well yet people still believe there was a chance of fraud? Why? It’s because they want something that fits their ideals, even if it makes no sense when truly looked at.
