We magma cools, they begin to crystallize minerals from within them and these are the minerals that forms the eventual rock when all is set.

  • Intrusive igneous rocks forms deep within the subsurface and are typified by their large crystals.
  • Extrusive igneous rocks forms on the surface and are typified by very fine grains.
  • Hypabyssal rocks are intermediate.
