it could be compared to the 1898 wilmington massacre where white supremacist stormed a government building to stop the democracy party from having the most control of wilmington. North Carolina at the time was the state that was mainly known for white supremacy. A riot started after people burned down the only black owned newspaper office in wilmington which also led to black owned properties and business being destroyed. The whole riot led to the death of about 60 to over 300 people on November 10, 1989
