Answer:

There are two solutions, depending on where x is. Since you did not attach a picture, I did both. Choose the one that matches your picture/question.

If x is on the opposite side (solution 1 photo), then, x = sin(35)*20 equals about 11.47

If x is on the adjacent side (solution 2 photo), then x = cos(35)*20 equals about 16.38

Step-by-step explanation:

I love trigonometry, once you start practicing it, it becomes second nature. We're given that the hypotenuse is 20 and an angle is 35 degrees. I have attached a picture of the drawing (GIVEN). We know that the hypotenuse is the longest side of the triangle and directly across from the right angle. Then, we can put the 35 degrees in any other spot, if you are not given a picture. Next, I like to label all the sides, o for opposite, a for adjacent, and h for hypotentuse.

After labeling the drawing, you should be able to set up an equation, using sine (o/a), cosine (a/h), or tangent (o/a) depending on the given. To help you remember this, you can use the saying SOH CAH TOA, which is sin = opposite/hypotenuse, cosine = adjacent/hypotenuse, and tangent = opposite/ajacent. In this problem, we are going to use one that has the hypontenuse, so you can automatically get rid of the tangent. You did not include of photo, so I am going to solve for it both ways. I will edit it, if you attach of photo later.

SOLUTION 1:

sin(35) = x/20

x = sin(35)*20

x equals about 11.47

OR

SOLUTION 2:

cos(35) = x/20

x = cos(35)*20

x equals about 16.38

Once again, this depends on where x is on the triangle. And since you did not include a picture, I am unable to fully tell you.

Hopefully this still helped you, good luck!
