In a certain Algebra 2 class of 30 students, 7 of them play basketball and 11 of them
play baseball. There are 5 students who play both sports. What is the probability that
a student chosen randomly from the class plays basketball or baseball?

Just basketball is 7 - 5 = 2
Just baseball is 11-5 = 6
Both is 5

So 6 + 2 + 5 = 13

13/30 play one or the other (or both), so 13/30 chance if randomly selecting.
