In the late 1890s India overall influx of economy was very poor, whereas Britain was receiving the benefits of reaping India of its precious industry. This lead to increase in hostility naturally evolving into a movement for independence from British rule. Sound familiar? It should be the British have a history of facing the brunt of rebellion with the US bid for independence. The two movements where very similar in cause and means excdpt, India never left. Gandhi standards of peaceful protest and legal clout were India's tactics during such turbulent times. They had no military power to speak of so this was the only open option. -------
